The Good News This Week
February 22-28, 2026
Prayer
As a child in Sunday school, one of the first things I learned to memorize in church was John 3:16.
The next thing I learned to memorize was the Lord’s Prayer.
Christians around the world share in the Lord’s Prayer every Sunday. Even churches that don’t use a lot of congregational prayer and liturgy will often say the Lord’s prayer together. When I studied abroad in Paris, I attended church every Sunday. While I didn’t understand all of the sermon or Scripture reading, one thing I could do was learn the Lord’s Prayer in French.
There is something powerful about this shared, sacred ritual. And our invitation in worship to “use whatever language feels comfortable for you” is rooted in the sacredness of this tradition. Even if our words are a little different or say it in a language other than English, God understands our hearts. We remain united in our petition for nourishment, forgiveness, justice, and hope for earth to be “as it is in heaven.”
We are really excited that Kazrin Novus is preaching this week, so come ready to hear their story about the Lord’s prayer and the beauty of diversity in worship!
Grace & Peace!
